Kenosha Civic Veterans Parade
That's Ryan on Sax (Chris and Marys son)
marching with the CYO Band.
Out Door Mass
It was a beautiful morning as the Kenosha CYO Band
celebrated their 65th anniversary by providing the music
and the joined parish choirs of Kenosha sang at the Mass.
This afternoon the CYO band will march
in the Kenosha Civic Veterans Parade.
In the garden
The Brunns have a pond with hundreds of tadpoles. They are already starting to grow back legs. Last night I watched them for probably an hour, while they nasched on the algae.
On the farm
Mom and Harry at the Brunn farm. The Brunns grow sugarbeets, but Mrs. Brunn has chickens and geese as a hobby.
FAHRENHEIT 9/11
Saw it last night at the Westgate in Racine.
Check it out, Make up your own mind.
Bad Harzburg: Forest hike
Renata enjoyed her Bockwurst at the restaurant at the highest part of our hike in the Harz mountains. I'm sure this picture will come back to haunt her later.
These are the children of one of the host teachers. Leona and the so-called "Terror-Marlon". The children played awesome together even though they couldn't understand each other.
Jacobs' first trip to Great America if you couldn't tell by his smile.
Due to heavy rains in the morning their were no crowds no lines and no waiting. Nicholas went on the Demon for the first time and immediately went again because no one was waiting. Thank you to Matt for getting us tickets.
Fun at Six Flags!
Happy 14th Birthday IAN !

Garden Finally Planted
Due to heavy rains and flooding we are off to a late start.
Our hopes remain high for a bountiful harvest.
We planted Tomatoes, Peppers, Eggplants, Broccoli, Cauliflower,
Red Cabbage, and Zucchini.
Hearts at the Jahrmarkt
In most towns in Germany, they have a yearly fest and carnival. We went to one in a neighboring town, Wittmar. Hans' mother and Hans were also there and insisted that we do all of the traditional things like ride all of the rides, throw balls at stacked cans, ride the pony, eat cotton candy (which is white here and just tastes like sugar), and of course, wear a gingerbread heart around our necks.
Harry: "for my cowboy"
Mom: "for the very best grandma"
Michael: "for the best daddy"
Jammie: "you're super"
Harz Mountains
Today we went to the Harz mountains, the highest mountains in northern Germany. We took the gondola some of the way and then took the path to the top (528 meters). Here we (almost)all are on the way up. Mom, the eldest on the hike, arrived first at the top. Of course, the children were at the rear eating rolls smeared with Nutella and swiss-cheese-cheetos. Typical German day in the mountains.
Kirschkernweitspucken (spitting cherry stones far)
The fun never ends here in Klein Biewende at the Brunn family farm. Mom held her own in Kirschkernweitspucken. Additional competitive events are feeding the chickens, soccer, how much wine one can drink at dinner, and who can fall asleep after multiple espressos.
We've arrived!
We've all arrived safely in Wolfenbüttel. The Brunn family are excellent hosts! We have had tours of the farm and surroundings, picked strawberries, fed the chickens, gone to school, etc. Everything is amazing! I'm planning to download pictures today and post, so keep checking in...
The adventure begins...
We are off on our European adventure. We will try to post things on orths.com but will also be posting to the exchange web page. To get to the exchange webpage click on the Wolfenbuettel link to the right. Or you can get there by clicking
here. See you all in July.
He Did It !
