Miracle at Miller Park

Wow what a finish. Virginia and I got back from the best day ever at the ballpark. On tuesday the 23rd we got to see the brewers come from behind with a homerun by prince fielder we were siting in the front row behind the pirates dugout but more importantly an old couple approached us before the game and wanted to know if we were going to the Sunday game. They sold us 2 tickets for less than face value behind the Brewers dugout and we got to c CC pitch his 7th complete game for the brewers holding the cubbies to only one run and Ryan Braun added the punch with a 2 run homer to send the Brewers to the playoffs! They let the fans stay in the park to watch the Marlins beatup the Mets live feed from NewYork. Then the fun went through the roof. Virginia and I moved up to the second row behind the brewers dugout. First came Gagne up on top of the dugout to share some champain. The second brewer Mike Cameron literally came right over and showered us check out the video. Almost all the brewers came by as we high fived em and went nuts. Obviously incredible feeling to celebrate with the Brewers and their familys after the most important win in 26 years. Most of the 45,000 fans were ushered to the doors as the parting just started to begin Sabathia, Fielder, Hart, Hardy, Gwynn, Branyan, Suppan, Hall, Bush, McClung, Sheets all came right to us and high fived and shook our hands in celebration. They also gave us Champain and Beer showers. Yount was there pumping his fist to the crowd reminisent of a quarter century ago. As Seth McClung sprayed the crowd he was yelling I know you're thirsty! What an under statement ... no playoff appearance in 26 years is now history. Even if they dont get any wins in the playoffs the journey was well worth it.

Relay for Life

Now that I've scoped out the Relay, Michael and I are all jazzed up for next year. The Orths will have a full team, with a camp site and vending (any ideas on how to raise money?!).

Here is the image on my shirt from last night. I walked around the Bullen track 40 times (That's 10 miles!), talked to survivers, care givers, walkers, former students, basically, hopeful people. There's your message, folks, HOPE. Catch it while you can and eradicate cancer for good.
